Issue: On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label does not list that there is no spare tire in both official languages. The label reads as "NONE" when it should read as "NONE / AUCUN". Canadian regulations require the information to be listed on the label in both English and French. Safety Risk: This error does not affect vehicle safety. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. The company has corrected the tire and loading information label for all new vehicles.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the turn signal indicator does not flash quickly to indicate when a turn signal bulb is not working. Canadian regulations require a change in the flash rate of the turn signal indicator when a turn signal bulb stops working. Safety Risk: This problem could cause a driver to be unaware that the turn signals are not working. Turn signals that do not work may cause a person not to recognize when a driver intends to turn or change lanes. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Action: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your vehicle to a dealer to update the body control module (BCM) software.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the passenger seat belt assemblies may contain defective automatic locking retractors (ALR). As a result, the seat belts may not properly lock to secure a child seat. Safety Risk: A seat belt that is used to secure a child restraint but is not properly locked could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the seat belts. They will be replaced, if necessary.
Certain vehicles may have been built with a casting defect in the rack and pinion steering gear die-cast housing. This could result in a crack causing a loss of hydraulic fluid and a sudden increase in steering effort, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the steering gear housing and replace the rack and pinion assembly as necessary.
On certain vehicles equipped with the Roadside Emergency Kit containing a Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the suspect Kidde fire extinguisher with a new Kidde fire extinguisher with a steel nozzle. Certain vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 - Tire Selection and Rims. The Placard (“Information – Tire & Loading” label) may not contain the correct vehicle capacity mass, total number of occupants, tire pressure and/or “none” designation for the spare tire when a full size spare tire is present. Correction: Dealers will replace the incorrect Placard (“Information – Tire & Loading” label).
On certain vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, the transmission wire harness may have improper crimps. This could cause an unexpected shift to neutral which could result in a loss of motive power, which in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions may increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will update the software of the Transmission Control Module (TCM), and replace the transaxle wire harness as necessary.
